Quantum Organized a Day’s Workshop on “Ethical Hacking”

Quantum Global Campus, Roorkee organized a day’s work shop on “Ethical Hacking”. The department of computer science and information technology initiated this workshop in association of a leading training company from Delhi which works with a sole mission of establishing a dedicated research and development cell and bringing the findings to the benefit of budding engineers. It also works for cyber security cases for Governments and MNC’S.
The workshop was presented by Mr. Prashant, Researcher of the company, with the motto of apprising the students about Cyber security, Cyber forensics and Cyber laws, Android technology etc. He discussed and projected latest indispensable technologies by giving live examples. He said today technology has become the need of an hour which helps us to connect with all over the world instantly through its many sources like Face book, Twitter, Whats app, Google search engine, Skype and other applications. This rapidly growing technology has made most of us savvy of using computers, today we are so occupied with it, that we don’t even bother about our privacy and security.
In one of the examples, he told that he had recently solved the case of Lucknow based resident. A daughter of a Judge was an active user of face book once her face book account was hacked and then was misused for indecent acts. This case came into the notice of DSP of Lucknow police and they approached our team to apprehend them after going through nuts and bolts of this case through our ethical hacking. We succeeded in sending the culprits behind the bars.
The students of CS & IT branch remained attentive and energetic throughout the workshop and they asked lots of interesting questions on the same.
He also assured that Ethical hacking is also a crime unless it is used for authentic & security purpose .Legal hacking can only be done by government permitted organizations such as RAW, CBI, FBI etc, for the cyber security of a nation as per the cyber Laws. From the career point of view, he motivated students for choosing cyber security as a career, as it is a very emerging and growing sector of IT industry.
Mr. Satender Kumar, Department coordinator, said” The department is doing a lot for the students to fill the gap between academics and industries.”
Director General Prof. S.C Handa was the guest of honor and told that Quantum school of technology. Roorkee would continue to organize such kind of events in future for all the B.tech courses, so that students would come to know about the various latest technologies in the market and the career opportunities in those areas. In the end he appreciated the efforts of all especially the Mentors and the Trainers.
